THE JEEPSTER WAS FIRST INTRODUCED IN 1948, IT CAME LOADED STANDARD, WITH FEATURES THAT WERE OPTIONS ON MOST CARS. HOWEVER IT ALSO CARRIED A HEFTY PRICE OF $1765 WHICH WAS $25 MORE THAN A FULLY LOADED V-8 FORD CONVERTIBLE! BECAUSE OF THE HIGH PRICE, SALES WERE WEAK. MANY '48 MODELS WERE CARRIED OVER INTO THE '49 YEAR. TO HELP SALES IN '49 THE WILLYS WERE STRIPPED OF THEIR PREVIOUS STANDARD OPTIONS TO OFFER A LOWER BASE PRICE WITH EXTRA CHARGES FOR THE NOW OPTIONS. THIS WILLYS IS FULLY OPTIONED OUT AND IS POSSIBLY A 1948 CARRY OVER. IT IS ONE OF ONLY 2365 JEEPSTERS SOLD IN 1949. IT HAS 77K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN RESTORED AS NEEDED OVER THE YEARS, INCLUDING ONE PAINT JOB IN THE '70'S.
